The estate is in the Pinhão river valley, on the left bank, at an altitude of between 250 and 370 meters. Its specific location, sun exposure and orientation, soil, grape varieties, and age of vines make Quinta do Fojo an exceptional terroir of superb complexity.

Their viticulture aims to produce wines that respect and represent the "Quinta" through which they have a real sense of belonging. The family works with the utmost respect for the vineyard and its fruit, using œnological practices that are free of artifice and do not separate the wine from its roots, the vine.

Only one wine is produced per vineyard at Quinta do Fojo: The Old Vineyard dating from the late 19th century and the 30-year-old vineyard. For most vintages, the wine from the oldest vineyard is marketed as Vinha do Fojo, while in truly exceptional vintages, it is marketed as Fojo. This classification applies only to the Old Vineyard. Wine from the 30-year-old vineyard is marketed each year as Quinta do Fojo.

In the Old Vineyard, the most widely planted grape variety is Tinta Roriz, followed by Tinta Barroca, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and Tinto Cão. In the 30-year-old vineyard, we find the same grapes as in the Old Vineyard, plus Alicante Bouschet.

The Old Vineyard wine is made using the traditional lagar method (large natural vats), with temperature control and aging in 225-litre French oak barrels. As for the 30-year-old vineyard, it is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation tanks, and then aged in large used French oak vats. The wines are aged for 6 to 7 years before release.

Casa da Bouça is a beautiful estate located in the Sousa sub-region of the Vinho Verde region. It has mature vines from which we aim to produce a serious Vinho Verde. We have two whites, Casa da Bouça Blend - from Arinto, Trajadura and Azal - and Casa da Bouça Loureiro with 10.5%vol. As we wanted a low-alcohol white, Loureiro was the perfect grape to achieve this. In addition to the two whites, we also have a rosé, our Espadeiro wine, a local grape that makes rosé wines.

At present, production of Casa da Bouça Blend is around 10,000 bottles. In the future, however, we will be able to increase the number of bottles produced, as we currently sell 70% of the grapes we produce. Production of Casa da Bouça Loureiro is also 10,000 bottles, while Casa da Bouça Espadeiro is around 3,000 bottles.

We are extremely committed to the quality and individuality of our wines. It’s clear that we’re not a producer or a merchant who makes cheap wines. Our aim is to have a customer who recognizes quality and special products.
