Château de la Grange Barbastre is located 35 km south of Nantes on the Muscadet Côtes de Grand Lieu appellation area, in Corcoué sur Logne in Loire Atlantique. The castle, also called Château de la Grange, was built in the 15th century by Jean Barbastre, Lord of the Grange. It belonged to the Barbastre family until the end of the 16th century, then in 1777, the property was taken over by the Goulaine family. Destroyed during the Wars of Religion then rebuilt in the 17ᵉ century and enlarged in the 19ᵉ century, the Château was again demolished in the 20th century by the will of the owners.

A long tradition of wine-making endures at the Château, ancient writings testify to the exploitation of vines on the Estate already in the XVᵉ century.

Baudouin de Goulaine arrived at the estate in 1978, when his cousin, the Marquis de Goulaine, offered to come work with him. In 1981, Baudouin took over this magnificent Estate and expanded it to 50 hectares of vines. His son Victor joined him in 2017. Winegrowers at heart, it is together and in the purest family and winegrowing tradition that they operate the estate and carry out the cultivation, vinification and bottling operations, with the greatest care, anxious to offer each harvest the best of their work. At the end of 2020, Baudouin retired and Victor de Goulaine took over the running of the estate alone.
Thanks to the mainly silico-clay soils, sometimes composed of metamorphic rocks (amphibolite), the wines are fruity, mineral and well-balanced while the vinification on lees reinforces freshness, elegance and complexity.
At Château de la Grange Barbastre we produce Muscadet Côtes de Grand Lieu sur lie (the AOP Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu was created in 1994 and takes its name from the lake that borders it, the Lac de Grand Lieu), as well as IGP Val de Loire white, red and rosé wines.
