In 1889, Jules Arcelain took over the family business and modified the plot layout during the phylloxera crisis. He passed on his expertise, knowledge, and terroir to his son, who in turn passed it on to his children. Since 2020, the estate has been run by Pierre and his wife Charlotte Fihman Arcelain, a new generation of passionate winemakers who are delighted to take over. The layout of the vineyard has therefore evolved over time and across generations, while maintaining the ambition to showcase the best terroirs of Burgundy, from the vine to the wine.

Domaine Michel Arcelain is committed to sustainable cultivation from vine to wine. To best preserve their terroir and the authenticity of their wines, they pay particular attention to soil cultivation, which is carried out by plowing during the growing season, without the use of herbicides or insecticides. In order to achieve optimal quality, the grapes are harvested manually, then, after careful sorting, only the best bunches are used.

Their philosophy combines traditional and modern methods to produce the most natural wine possible.

In Burgundy, each wine tells the story of its terroir. The vines are rooted in typical clay-limestone soils, rich in minerals, which give the wines finesse, depth, and elegance. This unique terroir, combined with a temperate climate and ancestral expertise, is the hallmark of the region’s exceptional wines.
